The Matulay Innovations Kft. in Mosonmagyaróvár primary fulfils 3D measurement technology assignments with its own 3D measurement tools, and designs measurement and control devices. On customers’ request, they undertake to implement the designed devices, whose several parts are now made using 3D printing at a fraction of previous solution’s time and financial costs.
As a pioneer in the industry, they have been working with own 3D printer since 2013. At the moment, they manufacture using Craftbot XL machine purchased from one of our Hungarian retailers, FreeDee Printing Solutions, and among the 3D printers used so far, they are satisfied with this one the most.
During the past 5 years, they could work on 3 different FDM technology machine and an SLA printer in-house. As of now, they rely virtually only on the Craftbot XL’s capacity, since due to the large printing space, the silent and reliable operation, and the plug-n-play design, work becomes much simpler and enjoyable compared to their previous 3D printers.
„Primarily we use it to manufacture the control templates and measurement catching device’s parts. Usually, we work from PLA or with ABS commodity at 100-200 micron resolution. The printed pieces are almost always meastured and documented to our customer, 2 measuring arms and a CNC machine are available to us for this purpose. Therefore, we are very experienced in what settings and modelling principles to follow to achieve the most accurate results. At independent or 2-piece parts, our Craftbot works with +/- 0,2 mm tolerance, at shapes consisting of multiple pieces, the deviance usually remains within +/- 0,3 mm.”
This control template consisting of four parts is made to examine car industry parts, so the shape and length of rubber pipes bended in different angles. Length tolerance is separately marked on the printed model during the design. Previously, these templates were silvered from POMM, but thanks to the 3D printer, 40% weight reduction and lead-time less by 3 weeks have been achieved. It provides both the manufacturing company and our customer a more cost-effective solution. In addition, they are also able to create such shapes that are required, but could not have been manufactured using silvering.
